STOPPING THE VIOLENCE WOMEN’S COUNSELLOR POSITION

.2 FTE (7 hours per week)

Permanent part time position in New Westminster; providing specialized counselling services to women who experienced violence in intimate relationships.

DUTIES

1.      Counselling: Individual and group work.

2. Referrals and Advocacy /Community Liaison: Liaise with community service providers and attend community meetings as required.  
3. Teamwork: To work as a member of a therapeutic team.
4. Supervision: Participate in team and individual supervision..
5. Administrative Tasks: To meet administrative expectations of agency. (maintaining files, collecting data).

QUALIFICATIONS

1.      M.S.W., OR M.A. (Psychology)

2.      Additional training in best practices in the theory/treatment of trauma, such as EMDR, the Strategic Developmental Model for EMDR, art therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy.

Minimum of five years experience working in a counselling capacity with women who experience abuse and violence in relationships, sexual assault and/or childhood abuse.

·         verbal, written and interpersonal skills

2.      Ability to:

·         acknowledge and incorporate the experiences of persons who are marginalized

·         address symptoms of PTSD

·         work independently and in a team environment

3.      Commitment to ongoing personal and professional learning

4.      Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
