Outreach And Transition (Social Work) Services For WorkSafeBC Injured Workers

WorkSafeBC is committed to a safe and healthy workplace, and to providing rehabilitation and compensation benefits to workers injured as a result of their employment.  The Special Care Services department provides case management and clinical support for clients with complex medical and psychological injuries.

When a worker suffers a serious injury or occupational disease, the impact can be devastating for the worker and the family.  The Outreach and Transition (Social Work) Program has been developed to support clients during periods of crisis and difficult transitions.  Critical services to be provided will include crises intervention and suicide risk assessment and prevention activities to support clients and their families.

Other outreach and transition (social Work) interventions may include:

·         An in home assessment to identify an remove barriers that are preventing clients form successfully reintegrating into their community;
·         Ensuring that self care and support systems are in place;
·         Providing literature and information surrounding community services and programs;
·         Short term counseling for life transitions, grief, loss or isolation (treatment for mental health issues may be provided separately where appropriate;
·         Assessment and treatment recommendations for anger management and conflict resolution.
